We got acquainted with an interactive presentation tool called mentimeter.com

Mentimeter - intro from Mentimeter on Vimeo.
and here is the first mentimeter
Kuldar taught us some new simple tools
tlk.io is a very esily usable web chat tool. No login required
awwapp.com - a tool for cooperative image creation and editing - caused a lot of excitement and fun among teachers. We started to wonder -  if already teachers were so crazy playing with this tool - what would he students do?! We have to find out:-)
Last but not least - we learnt to use snippingtool, which comes with Windows 7, 10 etc. Very useful!

Calendars

As a dissemination product we decided to compile a calendar for the year 2017 with the photos of the mobilities, showing some sights from both countries as well as participating people. There is an overview of the project - its aims and outcomes - and also some of the internet links that can be used in teaching.
In addition we ordered memory sticks and  battery charger banks with EEA/Norway Grants logos, which are necessary gadgets for all teachers.
All three can be used as gifts, prizes or memorabilia related to the TESIC project.

Nutiklubi - regular meetings of teachers to be continued after the end of the project

The TESIC project has been really inspiring for the teachers of Kadrina Keskkool and as the teachers wanted to continue cooperation and workshops on ICT

Meeting in Kadrina Library

On October 20th the TESIC teachers together with Kadrina Literary Club organised a meeting in Kadrina library. It had two aims.
Firstly, to introduce the project and its outcomes, but also Iceland, its nature and educational system  to the local community. There was also a display of Icelandic literature and books about Iceland.

Secondly - watch one of the most successful recent Iceandic films "Hrutar" ("Rams")

Björk made a summary of the questionnaire

We know more about the education system in the cooperative country after participation in this project. Now 58,3% of participants think they are well or adequately informed compared to 15% at the beginning of the project.

More participants think the school administrators engourage them actively to use diverse teaching methods (75% compared to 55%).
In our evaluation questionare we also asked about different teaching methods, how often or seldom they practice different teaching methods. Now we often let students use various apps on Smart-phones and set upp discussion groups and cooperative learning in the classroom.
In the beginning participants listed up (list three) software and/or apps the use the most in there teaching. Below is a list of software and/or apps:
At the beginning:
At the end:
ü  Viko (Usable only in Estonia)

If we look at the list then it seems like the outcome is better ICT skills of teahers, at least they list up more software and/or apps and often let students use there Smart phones in class. At the beginning the majority of participants thought that computer technoology has a positive impact on teaching and students´ learning and at the end there belief was even stronger.
More teachers feel the need to change their current teaching methods (now 68,4% compared to 58,3% at the beginning). They think there is always room for improvement and learning from other teachers is an influence. Also, they think the students use different approach to studying and the new technology gives new opportunities.

Society has changed and technology has changed so they think it is importand to keep up with the new learning tools, apps and platforms. IT as it is is the way of the world today and that is the way to engage students.

Workshop in Tallinn

On August 22nd- 23rd  Estonian TESIC team organised a workshop in Tallinn. We also invited other teachers from our school to participate.
First we visited Mektory - a TUT Innovation and Business Centre, whose aim is to promote engineering and use of modern technology at schools. We got acquainted with the possibilities of Samsung Digital Academy, learnt the basics of wordpress.com and practiced 3D- modelling.

The day continued in Viimsi SPA, where we listened to the colleagues from Aravete Secondary School, who had also had an EEA/ Norway grant project. Their partners were from Norway and the project was about healthy lifestyle. It was very inspiring, especially as we were able to practice healthy lifestyle in the spa right after the introduction.
On August 23rd we had another guest - Tallinna Tehnikagümnaasium - from the EEA/Norway grant programme. Maie Tibar introduced their project Science into Reality and again we had to admit that it is always interesting to hear what is done in other schools.

Raimo gave a short overview of a summer seminar on global education and showed some teaching materials

Finally we had brainstorming on how to organise dissemination events for the project and we gave a helping hand to Rutt in organising a hiking day for the whole school, using some smart devices!

22nd April Sharing with Colleagues

We had a meeting  with our Iceland team again and some other teachers from school were also invited. Kaire and Hegi had been to HITSA conference ’Fiberoptical Path of Education’ in Tallinn and shared what they had heard and learned there with the others.

Lectors from universities spoke on various topics, e.g.:
1. Massively Open Online Courses (MOOCs) - Past, Present, and Future
Charles Russell Severance, (University of Michigan)
2.  Introduction into Learning Analytics
Hendrik Drachsler (Open University of the Netherlands)
3. Proposing Assessment Methods for Different Learning Outcomes: Project TALOE(slaidid)
Alfredo Soeiro (University of Porto)

On the practical side  another quiz app in addition to https://getkahoot.com/ was introduced.  The teachers could try using http://quizizz.com/, which is a bit different from Kahoot as the students can  answer at their own pace and the questions are not on the big screen.A new tool for lesson planning: http://beta.leplanner.net/#/Another tool for making mind maps could be:It’s especially useful for a planning project work or a bit longer tasks, but can also be used for planning just one lesson.
